| EqualityParents of all newborn babies in England are offered the opportunity to have their baby checked shortly after birth and then, again, at 6 to 8 weeks for adverse physical conditions or abnormalities. The UK National Screening Committee oversees the NHS Newborn and Infant Physical Examination Programme (NIPE) to ensure all parents can access this opportunity. Healthcare professionals in individual NHS hospital Trusts are responsible for carrying out the checks and capturing the relevant information about them. |
